Basque Energy Agency (Ente Vasco de la Energía; EVE) is looking to award a grant woth EUR 2.5 Mln for the development of a wave energy project, which will be designed and built to best suit the conditions off the Basque coast.
The objective of the agency’s call is pre-commercial public procurement of technology development of an offshore floating converter harnessing energy from waves along the Basque coast that responds to the region’s energy strategy.
The contract requires a minimum technological level of a TRL4-TRL5, with developed basic principle of operation, the numerical modeling of it and at least a few trials of a prototype in a channel or tank.
Consequently, the contract does not cover projects seeking prototype testing at sea as an incremental evolution of the device’s development. Furthermore, the contract will not be awarded to projects that aim to develop breakthrough concepts that are not within international trends of the sector and have not reached a sufficient level of development as to represent a solvent and unequivocal advocacy their suitability.
