MacArtney UK Ltd has acquired Callidus Subsea Ltd, an industrious cable moulding and assembly company based in Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

The acquisition of Callidus follows a sustained spell of growth and record breaking results for the Aberdeen based MacArtney operation who continues to take full advantage of the good UK business climate.

According to MacArtney UK Managing Director, David Buchan, all the staff who has been employed by Callidus will transfer to the MacArtney facility in Dyce during the next few weeks, hereby taking the total employee count up to 60.

Likewise, the previous owners of Callidus, Mike Callaghan and Derek Woodrow, will transfer to MacArtney where they will take up new key positions.

The new Callidus staff members bring along more than 50 years of combined experience of providing cable harnesses, connectors, custom mouldings and cable assembly solutions for harsh subsea environment applications – with areas of specialisation including diving umbilicals, ROV and tooling cables. At MacArtney UK, the new members of staff will join a dedicated team of experienced and highly trained cable assembly and underwater technology experts wielding the latest production techniques and cutting-edge technology.

“This is a very good day for both companies and their staff and more than anything; the acquisition represents another big step towards our strategic goal of providing a market leading cable moulding and assembly service” said David Buchan. He continued: “We all look forward to welcoming and integrating our new colleagues into the MacArtney organisation”.

According to David Buchan, MacArtney UK has come a long way since the company first ventured into the Energy Capital of Europe: “During our 15 years of existence, we have gone from 5 to 60 employees and sustained an impressive 18.6 % compound annual growth rate which we expect to continue into the future. This year, we reported a turnover of £ 18.2 million for the first time in the UK operations history. To continue these successful times we are constantly considering new growth opportunities, like the acquisition of Callidus, while maintaining our focus on organic growth through the increased sale of in-house developed products and large scale system solutions”.
