Pontoon loaded with offshore wind turbine parts sinks off Germany

A pontoon loaded with parts for offshore wind turbines sank on Wednesday morning (August 13) in the Baltic Sea.

The 35×11 meters large transporting pontoon sprung a leak while being towed from Stralsund towards Kiel by Bösch tug, and sank almost four kilometers northwest of Darßer Ort in a water depth of about eleven meters.

Man severely injured in accident at Butendiek offshore wind farm

On July 7, sea rescuers from List medevaced a severely injured worker from the heavy lift vessel Svanen, working at the Butendiek offshore wind farm.

The 60-year-old worker was seriously injured in an accident and had to be rushed to a hospital immediately. Due to thunderstorms, a helicopter could not fly to the Butendiek offshore wind construction site, west of the German island of Sylt in the North Sea. Therefore, the PIDDER LÜNG rescue vessel left with a voluntary maritime distress doctor onboard, immediately after the alert to the harbor.

Floating Wind & Current Hybrid Power Generation System (SKWID) sinks off Japan

MODEC has confirmed that a Floating Wind & Current Hybrid Power Generation System (SKWID) constructed by MODEC sank into the water earlier this month while being installed.

The identified location is 1.2km off the coast of Kabe Island, Karatsu-City, Saga Prefecture.

Worker falls to death at Walney offshore wind farm, cause of fall unknown

An inquest into death circumstances of a 26-year-old man, who died at the Walney offshore wind farm site on March 1, was held in County Hall in Kendal.

An autopsy established that severe head injuries were the cause of death. The inquest has revealed that Aleksejs Kuznecovs fell from deck 10 to deck 5 of the floating accommodation vessel MS Wind Perfection, hitting a thick steel base.

Vessel damaged after alliding with Walney offshore wind farm turbine

The Liverpool Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) received a call at in August, reporting that the standby safety vessel OMS Pollux had allided with a pile supporting a turbine. The vessel has since been leaking marine diesel oil.
