IDEOL, a fast-growing French start-up specialized in floating foundations for the offshore wind industry, and Hitachi Zosen (Hitz), a major Japanese industrial and engineering company, have signed an agreement for the design, engineering and construction of floating offshore wind turbines in Japan using IDEOL’s patented “Damping Pool” solution.

“We are extremely pleased that one of the most strategic and knowledgeable markets for floating offshore wind has identified IDEOL’s game-changing solution as the one most likely to dramatically reduce the LCOE of commercial wind farms. Benefiting from the experience of a leading corporation such as Hitz is a great honor for our young company. It clearly demonstrates our technology’s adaptability to very challenging sea and weather conditions as well as our company’s ability to compete in a global market,” announced Paul de la Gueriviere, IDEOL’s CEO .

Accelerating the construction and installation of floating offshore wind farms is a strategic necessity for the country’s energy mix and dramatically reducing the LCOE of such farms before the end of this decade has become one of the top priorities for Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Hitz and IDEOL stated that they have entered into a partnership agreement to offer a cost-competitive and global solution in order to support these efforts.
