GICON Group has launched a stand-alone website dedicated to the GICON® SOF – Germany’s first floating offshore foundation.
The website will closely follow the manufacturing and installation of the SOF prototype. Fabrication of the first full-scale model started in July 2014. The work is being performed by GICON Group company ESG Edelstahl und Umwelttechnik Stralsund GmbH.
In Fall 2015, the SOF will be installed off the German Baltic Sea coast in order to conduct extensive technical testing as well as ecological monitoring. An additional site in the North Sea is currently under development to test a full-scale 5-6 MW prototype under North Sea conditions. The target is to start serial production of the GICON® SOF by 2017.
