Alpha Nano International has been awarded of £225,384 grant funding through the GROW:OffshoreWind service in order to further develop their range of innovative nano-coatings designed specifically for the offshore sector.
The funding will allow Alpha Nano to invest in further research and development to produce innovative and durable coatings and lubricants that will protect turbine blades and their internal working components from the harsh marine conditions that can drastically reduce the working life of this equipment.
Alpha Nano highlighted that its coatings create an extremely durable and long-lasting surface that will resist erosion from the salt-water environment, extending the working life of turbines and minimising costly and time-consuming reactive maintenance that currently affect offshore wind farms, with the leading edges in particular suffering the most.
