Mark Rodgers has handed in his notice last week, after 13 years and 2 months of being Cape Wind’s Communications Director, Cape Cod Times informs.

Even though media adds this move to a chain of setbacks that the project has experienced lately, Rodgers said that he is only taking the next step in his communication career.

“My decision to leave has nothing to do with the future of Cape Wind, and it would be a mistake to interpret it as such,” he told Cape Cod Times on Thursday.

In addition, he cited Jim Gordon, the president of Cape Wind, who said that “reports of the project’s demise are greatly exaggerated”.

The project’s latest delays occurred when two Massachusetts’ utilities, NStar and National Grid, decided to terminate the power purchase agreement as the developer failed to meet the deadline to obtain financing and begin construction by the end of 2014. Following that, Cape Wind withdrew from the lease agreement with Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) for New Bedford marine terminal.
