Niron Staal held an international press day for the Bluetec Texel Tidal Energy project last Friday.
The 200kW Texel platform is a scaled-down demonstration version of BlueTec, which is designed to be installed anywhere in the world and provide power in remote areas and small islands, replacing diesel generators.
Head of New Energy at Bluewater Energy Services Allard van Hoeken : “This platform, which is built at Niron Staal in a very short time, can be shipped and installed anywhere in the world, to provide clean electricity in remote areas and small islands, replacing expensive and polluting diesel generators”.
BlueTec is a collaboration between Bluewater, Damen/ Niron Staal, Van Oord/Acta Marine, Tocardo, TKF, Vryhof, NIOZ, Nylacast, Schottel Hydro and Tidal Test Centre.
