Manor Renewable Energy Ltd, Portland Dorset-based company, has secured TÜV SÜD certification for its temporary power solution for offshore wind projects.

Despite transition piece design (and associated available platform space) providing multiple challenges, the company has engineered, certified and fabricated a bespoke solution that dramatically reduces the requirement for continual offshore re-fuelling and drives down the overall package cost.

Company Partner, Eric Briar, said: “We have looked to provide a vertical stack design that allows 3000 litres of fuel to be stored, whilst at the same time dramatically minimising the overall footprint of the temporary power plant and machinery; we can load this from the main installation vessel or secure on the transition piece prior to load out, (as overall weight is not an issue) and for demobilisation, its modular components can be dismantled and offloaded from the transition pieces.”

To ensure the frame design met with all requirements for European and Offshore legislation, TÜV SÜD were engaged to provide certification of the structures and offshore lifting elements.
