Carl Sargeant AM, Welsh Minister for Natural Resources, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at this year’s Renewable Wales Conference and Exhibition.

Organised by RenewableUK Cymru and sponsored by Welsh Government, Renewable Wales will take place on Thursday, 21 May, in the Parc Thistle Hotel, Cardiff.

Hundreds of delegates are expected to attend Renewable Wales to hear sessions on community energy, the impact of the General Election on UK energy policy, how the continuing process of devolution could affect the delivery of renewable energy in Wales and an update of the wind and tidal market.

There will also be a session sponsored by Remarkable Pendragon where experts will discuss how Wales can achieve a 100% renewable energy economy.

The event will conclude with an Energy Question Time, sponsored by RWE Innogy UK Ltd and chaired by Institute of Welsh Affairs Director, Lee Waters, with representatives from all the main political parties in Wales including UKIP and the Green Party.

Between the conference sessions there will be opportunities to network and a chance to engage with exhibitors.

For the first time, this year’s event also includes the Phil Williams Memorial Lecture, which was established in 2005 to commemorate Professor Phil Williams, the widely-respected physicist and politician who demonstrated a deep passion and commitment to sustainable energy. Taking place on the eve of conference, Wednesday 20 May, the lecture will be given by Dr Simon Roberts from Arup, whose research into energy, economics and employment has attracted global attention.
