Multi purpose support vessel, Stril Explorer, is set to arrive at Gwynt y Môr wind farm over the Easter weekend.

The vessel is scheduled to undertake the removal of the 3 FLIDAR moorings on the seabed used as part of Carbon Trust’s Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) programme.

Since September 2012, Carbon Trust has conducted trials to assess the effectiveness of the LIDAR prototypes in recording and analysing local wind conditions. The results were then compared to the existing meteorological mast of Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm proving their reliability.

The last floating buoy was removed in December 2014 leaving behind three moorings which are set to be removed during daylight and should take no longer than a few hours.
