Siemens AG has awarded Fred. Olsen Windcarrier the contract for the transport and installation of 67 Siemens 6MW wind turbines at the Veja Mate 400MW wind farm. Construction is expected to start in early 2017.
Martin Degen, Commercial Manager for Fred. Olsen Windcarrier said: “We are delighted to be working on the Veja Mate project, building on our unprecedented experience constructing the world’s most advanced offshore wind farms in Germany and building on our excellent relationship with Siemens.”
Veja Mate is located 129 kilometres offshore in the German exclusive economic zone (EEZ), in close proximity to BARD Offshore 1 where Fred. Olsen Windcarrier installed the final 14 complete turbines in 2013.
Fred. Olsen Windcarrier is currently working for Siemens in the German North Sea, having recently reached the half way milestone on the Butendiek project.
