GreenWAVE wave energy device, developed by Oceanlinx, is still in water approximately one kilometre off Carrickalinga Beach in the Encounter Marine Park, South Australia, Victor Harbor Times writes.
A year ago, the structure got stranded in Yankalilla Bay after difficulties arose while it was being towed from Port Adelaide to Port MacDonnell, where it was to be situated as a wave energy converter.
Since Oceanlinx went into liquidation , the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) said that the developer and its liquidator should remove the structure. However, DPTI spokesperson said that the State Government may work on the removal and make a claim as creditor, if the parties responsible for this work are unable to do so. The government could step in after all legal, insurance and financial issues are resolved.
Except being removed completely, there is also an option to turn GreenWAVE into an artificial reef.
