Support for Renewables Stays Strong in UK

The UK Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) has published its latest Public Attitudes Tracker, which shows that nearly four fifths of the public (78%) said they supported the use of renewable energy. DECC said that this is consistent with results from the past three years.

Some 71% of UK residents agree that renewable energy industries and developments provide economic benefits to the country. The percentage is unchanged from March 2014 and 2013 ‒ 70% and 71% respectively.

Solar power is highly supported by 81% of public, followed by wave and tidal energy with 74%. Offshore wind got 73% pro votes, slightly more than onshore wind with (65%) and biomass (63%).
