On May 12, Eneco’s WindLab has been opened near a wind turbine in the western area of the Port of Amsterdam.
This is the second location of the interactive wind laboratory. Earlier, it was located at a wind park in Etten-Leur. There, almost 4,000 pupils from 160 groups from the Netherlands have learned about wind energy over eighteen months. Part of the curriculum is also visiting a genuine wind turbine.
In an inspiring way, 7 and 8 grade pupils, as well as first graders are introduced with wind turbines and wind power in the WindLab. The curriculum was developed in collaboration with parties who translated the knowledge of Eneco to an interactive teaching material for 10 to 12 year olds. It is in line with a number of important learning goals set by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
The teachers are Eneco’s employees and former employees, who are trained for as professional Wind Mentors.
“Eneco considers that it is important to involve the youth in their own sustainable future. By investing in knowledge and awareness among future generations, we want to accelerate sustainable energy,” the company said.
The arrival of the WindLab to Amsterdam is part of a strategic alliance that Eneco and Port of Amsterdam have recently entered.
