Dudgeon Offshore Wind Limited has awarded a contract to Granada Material Handling Ltd to design , manufacture, deliver and commission 1 davit crane unit for the operations and maintenance facility in Great Yarmouth.

The Granada ‘Python’ crane unit has been specifically designed for the Dudgeon offshore wind farm and the challenging marine environment in which it will operate. One ‘Python’ crane unit will be fitted to a specially constructed quayside close to the proposed operations and maintenance base.

Mark Sidwell, director of Granada Material Handling Ltd , added:

“We are yet again pleased to have been awarded another UK wind farm project. Having recently secured the contracts for the wind turbine foundation cranes and the offshore platform cranes we are looking forward to a close working relationship with all parties on the Dudgeon wind farm’’

The Python crane unit measures approximately 4 meters in height, 4 meters in radius, and weighs 1600kgs. The maximum lifting capacity of 2000kgs is needed to hoist the heavier serviceable components from the supply vessel to the laydown area on the quayside and vice versa.

Once installed the crane unit can be used to provide essential training and certification for the wind farm technicians who will use the other Granada Cranes offshore.
