Atmocean, a US wave energy developer which is set to demonstrate its technology in Peru, reported that it will wait for better weather conditions to deploy the wave energy device off Ilo, a coastal city in the southern part of the country.

The company attempted to deploy the device on Wednesday, but was forced to retrieve the equipment due to stronger winds and higher waves.

Last month, the Peruvian Navy granted Atmocean a one-year license to demonstrate its wave energy technology in Ilo.

Atmocean will deploy a system consisting of five connected seawater pumps, leading to the potential installation of full commercial systems by the end of 2015.
