The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has issued a call for applications for a new offshore wind technology test scheme of 50 MW. The deadline for applications is 15 October 2015 and the first commitments are expected to be assigned within the end of the year.

The test scheme aims to develop new and innovative wind turbine projects which have the potential to reduce the production costs of electricity from offshore wind turbines. Reduction of the production costs has been one of the main focuses of the industry in the recent years.

The first commitments are expected to be assigned by the DEA within the end of the year.

As a part of the evaluation of the applications, the DEA will rely on evaluations from independent experts. The projects will be rated on their development potential as well as on their potential to lead to real cost reductions in the market. Projects, which are assessed to have the overall largest effect on the possibilities to reduce the cost of offshore wind farms, will be granted the aid.

The offshore wind turbines, which will be installed under the scheme, will get a fixed aid of DKK 0.70 per kWh for a production corresponding to 50,000 full load hours.
