Earlier this week Grimsby Renewables Partnership was officially launched with an aim to connect offshore wind farm operators with local businesses.
This will help the local economy while reducing the cost of green energy, writes Grimsby Telegraph.
More than 200 people gathered at Grimsby Town Hall to for the launching ceremony of a vital support group for the area’s burgeoning offshore wind industry.
Almost seven years ago, an informal networking organisation was launched and has grown together with town’s offshore wind industry as Centrica and Siemens ran 54-turbine Lynn and Inner Dowsing project.
North East Lincolnshire Council leader Ray Oxby said: “Thanks to long-term commitments from several companies in the room today, things are starting to grow, and grow big.
“Centrica, Dong Energy, E.on, Siemens, MHI Vestas and their associated supply chain are choosing to base themselves here in Grimsby, and with the Able development coming and gathering momentum, the South Bank of the Humber is the place to come and do business.”
Already, GBP 20 million was invested into Grimsby infrastructure while 450 people was directly employed.
