TenneT’s Transmission Capacity 96.4% Available

TenneT has published its interim report for the period from January to August 2015, in which the company highlighted that approximately 4,300 MW of offshore transmission capacity has been available 96.4% on average. This exceeds the statutory requirement for an average minimum availability of 92.3%.

TenneT has published its interim report for the period from January to August 2015, in which the company highlighted that approximately 4,300 MW of offshore transmission capacity has been available 96.4% on average.

This exceeds the statutory requirement for an average minimum availability of 92.3%. In its interim report, TenneT analyzed data from January to August 2015. During this period, the company has completed five new power supply systems in the German North Sea in short time frame.

“TenneT has set a powerful pace at sea in recent months and now provides around 4,300-megawatt capacity for the transmission of offshore wind energy with a total of eight operational connections. Thus TenneT ensures the early achievement of the development goal of the federal government,” said Lex Hartman, Member of TenneT management board . “Two-thirds of this goal was already achieved,” he added.

The expansion targets are set to 6,500 MW of offshore wind capacity by 2020.

TenneT’s data analysis indicates that the 4,300 MW connection capacity is in line with almost 2,900 MW installed offshore wind farm capacity in the North Sea. The highest ever total feed offshore wind farms reached is 2,246 MW in strong winds on August 25. The highest average monthly value of offshore wind feed was achieved in July with 865 MW.
