Wello has started testing its wave energy converter prototype Penguin II at Plocan Test Site, off Gran Canaria north-east coast.

The 1/5 scale device arrived to Taliarte harbour in August and was assembled during September to prepare it for the sea trials.

The tests are expected to last three months, although the duration might be modified following the obtained results.

During this initial phase, the mechanical behavior of the device will be analyzed, leaving the PTO test for further phases. The tests are carried out under the memorandum of understanding signed in July between Wello Oy and the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (Plocan).
