Briggs Marine and Environmental Services has ordered a Damen Multi Cat 2712.

The vessel will be used for wind farm support, diving operations, anchor handling, dredging assistance and vessel support.

Designated the Forth Warrior , the 27-metre workboat is currently being fitted out at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in the Netherlands.

Special equipment being installed includes a DPS-1 system, a four-point mooring system, and removable winches each capable of holding 320 metres of wire.

Graham Gray , Operations Director of Marine Assets at Briggs Marine said: “The last few years have seen an uplift in business, especially in the growing offshore renewables market, and Briggs believes that investing in its expertise and marine assets will provide an ongoing reliable service to this growing and expanding industry.”

This is the third vessel that Briggs Marine has purchased from Damen in recent years. The first was the Forth Jouster Multi Cat 2611, a slightly smaller version of the 2712, and the was second the 62 metre Anchor Handling Tug Supplier 75 Kingdom of Fife .

Damen Sales Manager Casper Vermeulen said: “We’re delighted that our previous vessels have performed well on their various assignments and we are sure that the Multi Cat 2712 will continue that record of excellence.”

The Forth Warrior is due for delivery in June.
