Following a successful inspection of Sea Worker on February 10, a team of divers from Smit Salvage yesterday started to mount the equipment to remove the diesel oil from the offshore installation vessel that ran aground and capsized off Denmark, according to A2SEA.
The removal of the oil from Sea Worker was scheduled to start after the successful mounting of the equipment.
Sea Worker ran aground south of Denmark’s Hvide Sande on the night between 26 and 27 January while under tow to Esbjerg.
The vessel capsized on 3 February due to harsh weather which persisted until February 10, not allowing the team from Smit Salvage to inspect and remove the diesel oil from the barge.
