Semcon has signed a framework agreement with DONG Energy which covers consultancy services for DONG’s German offshore wind power business activities.
The agreement between DONG and Semcon focuses on supporting construction, commissioning and operations of offshore wind farms in Germany.
“Our expertise from various industries will join together in providing an exciting approach to this assignment. We will be helping with project and quality management gained from the auto industry, along with experienced consultants from the offshore and energy sectors,” said Markus Granlund, Semcon’s President and CEO.
In October 2015, DONG inaugurated the 277MW Borkum Riffgund 1, the company’s first OWF project in Germany. In addition to Borkum Riffgrund 1, DONG Energy is also working on the wind farm projects Gode Wind 1 and 2 with a total capacity of 582MW.
DONG plans to quadruple its offshore wind capacity from 2012 to 2020, which would provide green energy to a total of 16 million Europeans.
The German government aims to install a total of 6.5GW of offshore wind energy until 2020.
