Tidal Transit’s WaveCraft Surface Effect Ship (SES) Umoe Firmus was handed over to Statkraft today in Wells-next-the-Sea.
Statkraft, which is in charge of the Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm, chartered the vessel, built at the Umoe Mandal shipyard, to support its O&M operations at the wind farm.
The 317MW wind farm is located from 9-17 miles off the coast of North Norfolk in the southern North Sea, and Umoe Firmus will operate from the port of Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk, where the wind farm’s O&M base is located.
Tidal Transit took over the new vessel last week at the Port of Great Yarmouth.
Umoe Firmus’ top recorded speed to date has been 49.8kts.
