The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has approved a EUR 244 million loan agreement for the 129MW Eneco Luchterduinen offshore wind farm in the Dutch part of the North Sea.
The Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm, developed and owned jointly by Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation and the Dutch energy company Eneco, comprises 43 112-3.0MW MHI Vestas wind turbines and is located 23 kilometres off the coast of Zandvoort and Noordwijk, the Netherlands.
The finance loan, part of a EUR 442 million financing package agreed between the state-owned JBIC and private co-financiers, is aimed at increasing the presence of Japanese companies, such as Mitsubishi, in Europe’s offshore wind industry.
MHI Vestas, the supplier of the turbines for the wind farm, is a joint venture between Vestas and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
The Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm was put into operation in September 2015. The total cost of the project was EUR 450 million.
