Local Content Needed for Finnish Offshore Wind Farm

Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy, the developer of the 40MW Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm in Pori, Finland, and Jan De Nul NV, the project’s main contractor for marine construction, have invited local businesses to join the two companies in constructing the world’s first offshore wind farm suitable for icy conditions.

The local companies will have a chance to meet with the representatives from Jan De Nul NV at Teknologiakeskus Pripolissa, Pori, on 22 April.

Suomen Hyötytuuli and Jan De Nul are interested in meeting with the companies that can provide port-related services and services at sea, including diving, provision of mobile cranes, engineering services, and welding and metal works.

The two companies are also searching for local businesses which can provide administrative, and health and safety services within the project.

The meetings will be held mainly in English, and those interested in attending can register and find further information here.

The construction of the wind farm is expected to start this month.

The Luxembourg-based Jan De Nul NV will be responsible for dredging, seabed construction work, and the installation of foundations and wind turbines. The work will take place over the next two summer seasons.

The wind farm will comprise ten 4MW Siemens turbines, scheduled to be commissioned by autumn 2017.
