Chevalier Floatels reported today that it had secured a series of contracts for offshore wind projects, thus returning its fleet to the renewables sector amidst a challenging period the oil and gas industry is currently going through.

Even though Chevalier left the projects for which it was contracted unnamed, it revealed that its two accommodation vessels have each secured contracts for converter station works, with DP Gezina also being hired for met mast maintenance and DP Galyna for cable installation support.

The two vessels will be deployed at their respective projects in the North and Irish Sea until the end of July.

DP Gezina and DP Galyna, outfitted with an Ampelmann heave compensated gangway and crew boat landing for personnel transfer operations, have been upgraded recently and now have four new features which, according to Chevalier Floatels, enable them to meet the requirements of the offshore energy industry, and especially offshore wind.

Many companies like Chevalier Floatels have been able to weather the current downturn in oil and gas industry by engaging more in the offshore wind sector.
