Fred. Olsen Windcarrier will transport and install 56 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines at the Borkum Riffgrund 2 wind farm.
The turbine installation is set to start in the second quarter of 2018.
“This is our second contract signed with DONG Energy and our first project installing the Vestas 8MW turbines, it is an exciting project and one we are pleased to have won,” said Even Larsen , Head of Commercial and Projects.
Fred. Olsen Windcarrier recently upgraded Brave Tern to be able to handle the coming ‘multi MW’ turbines. Sister vessel Bold Tern is currently undergoing the same modifications , with completion scheduled for July.
Borkum Riffgrund 2 is located 57km from shore in the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The 450MW wind farm will power 460,000 homes annually, once operational.
