NIRAS, a provider of marine engineering and environmental consultancy services, has acquired Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (CMACS), a marine ecology consultancy involved in projects such as Burbo Bank Extension, London Array, and Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farms.
Tim Norman , Managing Director of NIRAS Consulting, said: “I am delighted that we have joined forces with CMACS, who have a wealth of experience and expertise in marine and coastal ecology. Our combined teams now offer a full range of marine, intertidal and coastal survey and assessment services.”
Ian Gloyne-Phillips will manage the NIRAS coastal and marine ecology team which is based in Liverpool. Terry Holt becomes Technical Director, based in the Isle of Man. NIRAS now employs a dedicated UK team of 35 marine consultants based in Cambridge, Dorking, Glasgow, the Isle of Man and Liverpool.
The company recently signed a contract to act as an advisor, together with Sinotech, for a new Taiwanese offshore wind farm . It has also been working on several UK and Danish offshore wind projects.
