DONG Energy has awarded Kolektor Etra, based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, a contract for the supply of two power transformers for the offshore substation that will be installed at the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in Germany.
The company has won the contract based on the most economically advantageous tender, according to the tender award notice.
In March, DONG Energy awarded a contract to Heerema Marine Contractors for the transport and installation of the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore substation.
The 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 will feature 56 MHI Vestas 8MW wind turbines, installed 54km off the coast of Lower Saxony, next to Borkum Riffgrund 1.
The offshore wind farm is expected to be fully commissioned in the first half of 2019.
DONG Energy is the sole owner of Borkum Riffgrund 2, but intends to divest up to 50% of the project at a later stage.
