Oceanteam Shipping has appointed Holger Reurslag, an experienced offshore energy player with a 25-year career in the offshore construction, drilling and production sector, to the role of the Company Captain.
As the Company Captain, Reurslag will be responsible for a wide range of managerial tasks, including the management of the vessel’s crew and the execution of quality, health, safety and environmental policies on board. He will report directly to Oceanteam’s management team.
Before starting in his new role at Oceanteam Shipping on 1 June, Reurslag worked among others for Seadrill and for various international owners and operators of FPSOs around the world.
Oceanteam Shipping owns, charters and manages deep-water offshore support vessels and fast support vessels.
It is part of Oceanteam ASA, which also offers services such as marine equipment renting, cable logistics and design engineering through Oceanteam Solutions.
Last year, Oceanteam Shipping announced that the company will turn its focus towards the offshore wind market to escape the ongoing downturn in the offshore oil and gas sector.
The company said at the time that it believes demand for services related to the offshore renewable industry will increase in 2016 and beyond and that it remains in a strong position to meet the future demands and requirements in this market.
Oceanteam became the owner of KCI The Engineers, RentOcean, and Oceanteam Cable Solutions, which gave the company the advantage to cover more areas in the offshore wind market.
