TRS Staffing Solutions (TRS) has been selected by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) as one of four suppliers of offshore wind contractors for the 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm project in the Outer Moray Firth, Scotland.

“We are extremely pleased to win this contract. Beatrice is a high-profile project and requires the expertise of the best wind farm professionals. TRS has an enviable reputation for their expertise and experience in the wind farm sector and is very well placed to deliver the quality of candidates required to make the project a success. This is a great opportunity to build on our existing relationship with SSE and further strengthen our offshore wind business in the UK and Europe,” Martin Doe, UK Delivery Manager, said.

The GBP 2.6 billion Beatrice offshore wind farm project is a joint venture between SSE Renewables Limited, SDIC Power of China and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.

It is located 13.5 km from Caithness in northern Scotland and will be operated and controlled from a base at Wick. The wind farm will be made up of 84 Siemens 7 MW turbines.

The final investment decision for the wind farm was reached in May 2016. Beatrice is being developed with a tier 1 supply chain comprising Seaway Heavy Lifting, Subsea 7, Nexans and Siemens.

The wind farm is expected to be commissioned in 2019.

Martin Foulser, Group Managing Director at TRS, said: “The award reinforces our position as a market leader in the provision engineering talent to leading renewable energy projects in the UK and internationally. It’s a great win for our client and our team in the UK.”
