Offshore Windforce’s personnel aboard the multipurpose vessel Abis Duisburg, working on the Wikinger offshore wind farm, have had more than 200 safe transfers from the vessel to wind farm structures since the Abis Duisburg was equipped with a new gangway.
Dutch company SMST recently completed the M series Telescopic Access Bridge with active motion compensation that has been rented by Offshore Windforce WIK VOF, a joint venture between Boskalis and Volker Stevin, which has been hired to install 70 wind turbine foundations and 6 offshore substation piles at the Wikinger offshore wind farm.
The SMST Telescopic Access Bridge M is the modular gangway from M series in a range of four types of access bridge system offered by SMST. These include the S, M, L and XL, which vary in length from a minimum of 4m up to 58m, and can be active or passive motion compensated.
The S, M and L are primarily developed for walk-to-work applications, and the L and XL are more suitable for long-term connection between offshore structures and accommodation service vessels, the company said.
