NorSea Group has set up an offshore wind company, NSG Wind A/S, in Esbjerg, Denmark, which has been set up to deliver the full range of offshore wind industry services to wind farm operators, wind turbine manufacturers and sub-suppliers, among others.

“European offshore wind markets continue to grow and the markets in Asia and North America are mushrooming. There is therefore a growing need for the palette of services the NorSea Group has built over the past 50 years, including seabed investigation, transport cable inspection, onshore and offshore logistics, installation, service and maintenance – as well as specially designed vessels and other offshore equipment. Given the market situation, staking on offshore wind is an obvious step for us to take,” said CEO of NorSea Group, John E. Stangeland.

The company has already won orders in several countries, including Denmark, Germany, the UK, and Taiwan, NorSea Group says.

“Denmark – with its offshore metropolis, Esbjerg – leads offshore wind energy so we chose to locate NSG Wind here. NSG Wind is owned by Danbor, our Danish subsidiary, whose headquarters are in Esbjerg,” Stangeland said.

NorSea Group appointed Morten Basse, former COO in Apro Wind and Director in Offshoreenergy.dk, as CEO of NSG Wind.

“Via its subsidiary company, ØER A/S, NSG Wind already has several large clients within installation, service and maintenance of offshore turbines in Denmark, Germany and the UK. In partnership with the Taiwanese authorities, we are working on a port development project and are in the process of establishing a joint venture company with a local partner. We have also signed agreements on the US and Canadian markets. We have not turned our backs on the Danish market: we have two major offshore wind farms in the pipeline, which are patently obvious projects for us,” said Basse.

The new company has representatives in Denmark, France and Norway, and its team includes specialists in subsea, port service, transport & logistics, marine services, installation and pre-assembly as well as wind turbine O&M services.

“That we represent a large, financially solid group, which can provide all types of supply services from the time the turbine components leave the factory and including O&M services, is a strong competitive parameter. This is true not least because we can achieve synergies between the services we offer, minimise the risks and reduce costs for our clients,” Basse said.
