Ulstein has shared several photos of the second wind farm support operations vessel (SOV) to undergo construction at the Ulstein Verft shipyard in Norway as she is getting ready to be painted.

The Norwegian ship designer and shipbuilder plans to launch the SOV in late October, with sea trials scheduled to start immediately after the launch.

The SOV is the sister vessel of Windea La Cour, Ulstein’s first ever wind farm SOV, built for Bernhard Schulte Offshore and chartered out to Siemens Wind Power Service.

Windea La Cour was delivered to BS offshore in June and christened in July. She is expected to start her charter with Siemens on the 600MW Gemini Offshore wind farm soon.

Both vessels are based on the SX175 design from Ulstein, and are equipped with the hull features X-BOW and X-STERN.

The vessels function as platforms for wind farm operations and maintenance support, technician accommodation and transport, and provide access to installations offshore. They can accommodate 60 persons in single cabins, 40 of which are dedicated to technicians.
