Technip has hired Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) for the provision of transportation services for the 30MW Hywind Scotland Pilot Park.

Torgeir Ramstad , CEO of OHT, said: “This marks our entry into the offshore wind business, a market with enormous needs for logistical and transportation services. OHT has a long track record of providing a timely, predictable and safe service to its customers, and we are committed to demonstrating the same high performance to Technip in Norway and Statoil on this important assignment.”

OHT’s work scope includes preparation of the transportation manual including design, procurement and installation of grillage/sea fastenings and supports, stability and ballasting procedures, as well as the turnkey transportation of the five substructures from Spain to Norway from delivery ex-quay in Fenne to re-delivery afloat in Stord.

The company’s semi-submersible heavy lift vessel “Eagle” will alternate between carrying one or two foundations per voyage, commencing in the first half of 2017. OHT’s engineering and operations departments in Oslo will perform all planning and engineering in close cooperation with Technip in Norway, the company said.

Technip was awarded the Hywind Marine Operations Contract from Statoil in 2016.
