DONG Energy has awarded GeoSea with a contract for the installation of 20 jacket foundations at the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in Germany.
The offshore wind farm will feature 56 MHI Vestas’ 8MW wind turbines, 36 of which will be mounted on monopile foundations with the remaining 20 installed on jackets with suction buckets.
DONG Energy reached final investment decision for Borkum Riffgrund 2 in June , and awarded Jan De Nul with a contract to install the 36 monopiles with accompanying transition pieces the next month.
The 56 wind turbines will be installed by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.
The 450MW offshore wind farm will be located 54km off the coast of Lower Saxony, next to Borkum Riffgrund 1.
