More than 90 original equipment manufacturers, vendors and suppliers assembled earlier this month in Denmark to elect the first supplier business network committee which will support the future developer and operator of the 600MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

On 7 September, the Kriegers Flak vendors and suppliers teamed with some of the pre-qualified companies and consortia, local government agencies and relevant networks to shape the process further, Offshorenergy.dk said.

“The 96 participants enjoyed a fruitful and well-planned seminar with relevant topics. They then elected seven members to a committee that will lead the supplier business network in preparation to serve the winning consortia taking part in further development of the wind farm and the subsequent O&M phase,” said Hans A. Pedersen , Director of Renewables Offshorenergy.dk.

The next step is to get the paperwork in place – formulating statutes and drawing up the registration materials for the relevant businesses. Once registered, member competences will be classified, Offshorenergy.dk said.

The Danish part of Kriegers Flak covers 180 of the windiest square kilometres in the Baltic Sea. In 2010, the Danish Energy Agency’s Offshore Wind Turbine Committee identified the area as one of the most attractive locations for an offshore wind farm.

Energinet.dk’s Kriegers Flak grid connection is budgeted at DKK 3.5 billion excluding additional investments that will be deployed by the winning bidder.

The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) prequalified a total of seven companies and consortia to bid for Kriegers Flak.

The prequalified tenderers for Kriegers Flak at the time were Kriegers Flak ApS (owned by Energie Baden Württemberg AG (EnBW AG)); Wpd HOFOR Stadtwerke München, Kriegers Flak SPV; European Energy Offshore Consortium (owned by European Energy A/S and Boralex Europe S.A.); a not yet established company by Vattenfall Vindkraft A/S; Kriegers Flak Offshore Wind I/S (a not yet established company by Statoil ASA and E.ON Wind Denmark AB); ScottishPower Renewable Energy Limited, and DONG Energy Wind Power A/S.

Wpd HOFOR Stadtwerke München, Kriegers Flak SPV later on withdrew from the tendering procedure.

The decision on the winner of the tender is expected to be published in December 2016. Once commissioned in 2022, the Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm will be the largest offshore wind farm in Denmark.
