Teras Offshore, in collaboration with Attollo Offshore, has secured a 16‐month charter contract with DONG Energy for its jack‐up accommodation rig Atlantic Amsterdam, which will support the construction of the Race Bank offshore wind farm in the UK.

Atlantic Amsterdam was mobilized to Race Bank from the port of Hirtshals in northern Denmark and has been on the location since 27 August.

Ben Moore , managing director of specialist offshore asset manager at Attollo Offshore, said: “This charter is delivering a significant step change in safety and operational efficiency in support of one of the UK’s largest offshore wind developments. Our approach demonstrates how value can be created through collaboration and we are delighted to be supporting DONG Energy and Teras Offshore achieve their goals.”

Jason Ledden , senior construction project manager of Race Bank Offshore Windfarm, said: “DONG Energy have always been a pioneer in developing offshore wind farms including implementing new installation procedures, trying new types of foundations and applying new logistic concepts. Deploying an accommodation jack‐up next to the Offshore Substation (OSS) enables safe and easy access to wind farm and the OSS in particular.”

Teras Offshore said it will use this charter to pursue other similar opportunities in the UK and across Europe.

The accommodation rig had left the Port of Hirtshals after Safe Ocean Service carried out service and small repairs on the rig, and equipped it with a new gangway system.

In 2012, Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen completed the conversion of Atlantic Amsterdam from a jack-up work platform into the accommodation platform, by removing the complete drilling installation of the rig and fitting it with sponsons in order to comply with stability regulations.
