Maersk Training in Newcastle has been allocated funding by the European Social Fund (ESF) programme for its courses which introduce and qualify young people to work in the wind energy sector.

The aim of the funding is to deliver education and training services to support young people who are 15-24, who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or at risk of becoming NEET and live in the North East of England.

Stuart Cameron, Managing Director of Maersk Training in Newcastle, said: “These courses are especially inclusive for young people who face multiple barriers to their participation and need a different type of offer or provision to engage them in learning/skills development to keep them engaged. They are a fantastic opportunity to get a foot on the career ladder in an industry which is booming and continue to grow each year.”

Courses currently available with this funding are Employability, and Safe Working Practices in the Wind Turbine Industry.

Individuals who complete these courses can progress into employment, traineeships, apprenticeships and further education.
