Offshore construction works at the site of the 40MW Tahkoluoto wind farm off Pori, Finland, are winding down ahead of the start of autumn storms and the subsequent winter period, Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy, the owner and developer of the wind farm, reports.
The marine construction works are scheduled to resume in April 2017, when the first wind turbine components are expected to arrive to the assembly site.
During this year’s offshore construction season, Jan De Nul, the main contractor for marine construction, prepared the seabed for the installation of the the wind farm’s ten foundations and subsea cables, scheduled for the spring of 2017.
Jan De Nul will also be in charge of the installation of foundations and the Siemens 4MW wind turbines, scheduled to start next summer.
Technip Offshore Finland has already started manufacturing the ten gravity-based steel foundations for the wind farm, and Prysmian Finland is about to start the production of the subsea cable in Kirkkonummi.
The EUR 120 million Tahkoluoto OWF is slated for commissioning during the autumn of 2017.
