As previously announced, Offshore WIND will today be live streaming a talk-show from the Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference in Amsterdam.
The talk-show, taking place at Community Square of the exhibition floor in the Amsterdam Rai Convention Center, is themed “We’ll always have Paris”.
To remind, almost a year ago, France’s capital Paris hosted a historic event, when world leaders gathered at COP21, also known as the 2015 Paris Climate Conference, and committed to tackling the climate change.
An agreement, some parts of it legally binding, was signed by 195 nations, who have pledged to try and keep the global warming going over 2 degrees celsius above pre-industrial levels.
Guests at today’s 30-minute talk show, scheduled to start at 15:00 CET, will be talking about the current status of the COP21 deal, its effects, what governments are doing, and the role the industry is playing.
The talk-show will host three guests from with speakers from Eneco, International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP), and Follow This.
One of the guests today is Ron Wit, Director Public Affairs at Eneco, a Dutch utility company. Wit, who is also a board member of the Dutch Business Council for Renewable Energy (NVDE), said ahead of the talk-show: “Meeting the Paris climate agreement is only feasible with an energy revolution. That is why we now need a strategy of entrepreneurship instead of a bookkeeping mentality to speed up the growth of green prosperity.”
Joining Wit on the show are Mark van Baal, founder of Follow This, a movement of green shareholders in Shell and Olaf Martins, Global Engagement Manager of IOGP, the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers.
