The Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult has issued a call for applications to the UK universities as it seeks to appoint a new scientific leader of its Wind and Ocean Conditions Research Team.
ORE Catapult said it is seeking a UK-based university with a strong background in wind and ocean conditions research to work with the organisation on strengthening its current research capability in this area.
The university awarded the Wind and Ocean Conditions Scientific Chair (WOSC) will provide scientific leadership and strategic guidance to the Wind and Ocean Conditions Research Team within ORE Catapult, which forms part of its Operations & Maintenance Knowledge Area.
The scientific chair will be appointed by the successful university, and universities have until noon on 11 January 2017 to submit their applications.
Ignacio Marti , ORE Catapult’s Innovation and Research Director, said: “In recent years we have seen acceleration in research geared towards lowering the cost of offshore renewable energy, but many challenges still lie ahead and we cannot be complacent in achieving our goals.
“Bringing industry and academia closer together means we are better equipped to tackle these issues, leverage further competitive R&D funding and, importantly, maintain the UK’s position at the forefront of the offshore renewables revolution.”
