Works on Iberdrola’s Wikinger offshore wind project are in full swing as the foundation installation is underway and is expected to be completed soon, as Bladt and Navantia dispatched their final jacket foundations and first components of Adwen 5MW wind turbines arrived at the Port of Sassnitz-Mukran.

According to Spanish media, the last four jacket foundations of the total 29 manufactured by Navantia should have left Spain and set sail to Germany on 20 November . Bladt Industries, which has been in charge of 41 jackets for the Wikinger offshore wind farm, informed yesterday that the last foundations fabricated at its facilities are on their way to Germany.

Meanwhile, the first wind turbine components arrived last week at Wikinger’s base port in Sassnitz, including several tower part and nacelles.

Currently, there are five complete sets for wind turbines in Sassnitz, each consisting of a nacelle, three tower segments and a hub, with more sets to arrive in the following days.

The EUR 1.4 billion Wikinger project is Iberdrola’s first offshore wind farm in German waters. The 350MW wind farm will comprise 70 turbines installed in the Baltic Sea and is scheduled to be operational in 2017.
