Belgian offshore engineering specialist GeoSea has appointed the offshore wind services provider CWind to undertake required secondary works at the 336MW Galloper offshore wind farm for a period of approximately six months starting in December 2016.

This involves a wide range of tasks including, paint repairs, bolting, messenger wire installation, cathodic protection testing and other related works, CWind said.

Lee Andrews, Managing Director CWind, said: “This contract builds on our strong track record in supporting with secondary works on construction across a range of offshore wind farms. We are delighted to be able to partner with Geosea on this project.”

Following successful on-shore mock up trials completed in September 2016, CWind will provide the full range of multi-skilled technicians, equipment, and both local project and SHEQ management that is required for delivery.

“We were impressed by the range of skills offered by the CWind team and their track record in offshore wind. This, combined with their use of local technicians and expertise across our full scope of work, meant we were confident in entering into a partnership for this important project,” Kevin Loncke, GeoSea Supervisor, said.

Galloper offshore wind farm will comprise 56 Siemens 6 MW wind turbines installed some 27km off the Suffolk coast.

The project is located close to the existing Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm and is scheduled to become operational by March 2018.

GeoSea, part of DEME Group, was awarded a EUR 340 million contract to design, fabricate and install 56 steel monopile foundations at the wind farm in November 2015.
