Four out of five Rix Sea Shuttle crew transfer vessels will keep operating during the winter as they are contracted to work on major wind farm offshore wind projects in the UK.
James Doyle , managing director of Rix Sea Shuttle, said: “Normally December is the quietest month by far with most of the crew transfer vessels laid up until the new year. For many operators this is still the case, but we have secured some fantastic contracts with some great companies so we are still working at near capacity.”
The Rix Leopard and the Rix Lion are both contracted to the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm which lies around 32km off the Cromer coast. The Rix Panther is working off the Sussex coast at the Rampion Wind Farm, and the Rix Cheetah is working out of the port of Grimsby throughout December.
Only the Rix Tiger is not working this month, while it undergoes routine maintenance over the winter period.
“Looking ahead, 2017 will hopefully bring new opportunities and growth at Rix Sea Shuttle. There is a lot of unrest in the offshore support vessel market at the moment, but the Rix Group has 140 years of experience in operating ships which is vital in navigating the industry. That knowledge and experience is at the heart of everything we do,” Doyle said.
