Load-out of the first six transition pieces (TPs) built by Offshore Structures (Britain) Ltd. for the Walney Extension offshore wind farm is expected to start around 16 January, according to a spokesperson from OSB.

The company, a Teesside-based joint venture between EEW SPC and Bladt Industries, will deliver a total of 40 transition pieces for the project which will comprise 87 turbines, with Bladt Industries producing the remaining 47.

The 660MW Walney Extension is located off the west coast of England, next to the 367.2MW Walney offshore wind farm. The wind farm will consist of 40 8MW MHI Vestas and 47 7MW Siemens wind turbines.

OSB, which was officially opened in September 2015 , also fabricated 16 transition pieces for Burbo Bank Extension , the first offshore project to utilise MHI Vestas 8MW turbines, scheduled to be fully operational soon.

Earlier this month Bladt Industries signed a contract with DONG Energy for 96 transition pieces for the Hornsea Project ONE , 56 of which will be made at Offshore Structures (Britain) Ltd.
