Orion Group is looking to recruit over 40 welders and platers in the Central Belt of Scotland, as well as across the country, after the job opportunities arose from offshore wind projects.

Specifically, the recruitment is being done for an infrastructure services and engineering group, which Orion left unnamed.

Gary Scott , Orion Group’s regional General Manager, said: “We’ve been working with our client for several years and have built a solid reputation in delivering the best in class personnel to their key engineering projects in the oil and gas and shipbuilding industries.

“We appreciate the industry has seen some challenging times of late however it’s exciting to see a number of green shoots appearing across our industry and along with us working in the innovative and developing world of renewables right here in the heart of Scotland, we can look to the future in this ever expanding sector.”

Welders for the roles should have experience in 6GR solid wire foot and Flux Core fill and cap. Platers are required to have good all-round understanding and competence in the discipline, Orion Group said, and added that it is seeking candidates from a range of engineering backgrounds but experience from the oil and gas sector would be an advantage.
