Lloyd’s Register (LR) has set up Subsea Inspection Service to support underwater inspections in offshore wind, oil and gas, and submarine cable sectors.
Services include project management, consultancy, personnel, quality control, data processing and data management, applicable to ROV, AUV and diver projects.
Andrew Inglis , Subsea Inspection Manager who will head the new unit that will be managed and coordinated in Aberdeen, said: “LR has significant capability and experience within the subsea sector including management of a wide range of offshore projects and operations across the energy mix. By uniting this expertise and experience with our focus upon safety, quality and cost-efficiency, we aim to be the preferred subsea inspection management supplier for our clients.”
LR said this was a timely approach by the company as growth is anticipated on all of the aforementioned areas, citing Douglas Westwood’s forecast for the offshore wind sector, according to which EUR 200 billion of capital expenditure will result in installed capacity of more than 70GW by 2025, generating significant future operations and maintenance activities.
